We put a decibel meter mid-room and let it read the air. The number on the board is that live level, not a promise — proof the room is as soft as it looks. Most evenings it rests around 34 dB, near a library reading room, and it barely moves when a full match is running.

New carpet in the C row
We relaid the C row over a slow weekend with a thicker, denser weave. It swallows the last of the chair-roll rumble, and the meter dropped a full point along that stretch. Worth the two closed days.
A record 31 dB on Tuesday
Last Tuesday evening the board settled at 31 dB with fourteen seats full — the lowest reading we have logged during play. A calm crowd, a fresh carpet, and pods doing their job. We noted it and kept quiet about it.
The third voice pod is open
Pod three is finished and lined. It is a touch larger than the first two and, so far, the softest of the set. That makes three pods for 22 seats, which has kept the wait down to almost nothing on busy nights.

Is talking not allowed at all?
You can talk. Just keep it to a whisper at your seat. When you want a full voice, step into one of the voice pods and the room stays soft behind the door. Most players settle into the hush within a minute of sitting down.
Are the voice pods paid?
No. The three voice pods are free to use with any station booking. First one open is yours, and we ask you to hand it back after your match so the next player gets a turn without waiting long.
How do you measure the hush index?
A small meter sits mid-room and reads the sound level in decibels. The number on the board is that live reading, rounded, updated through the evening. It usually rests between 32 and 38 dB, quieter than most rooms you have played in.
Can I book a late night seat?
Yes. On Friday and Saturday the club stays open until 02:00. Late seats are quieter still, since the rows thin out, so it is a good window for a long, calm session with a fresh carpet underfoot.
Can children come during the day?
Daytime is family time. Before 17:00 younger players are welcome with an adult nearby. The pace is gentle, the carpet is soft, and the same quiet house manner applies to everyone in the room, no exceptions.
